Earlier today, 3D design and printing shop Laser Bear Industries began taking orders for their latest product: a Sega Saturn mounting bracket that provides stability and gives access to buttons, LEDs, and the SD card slot on Terraonion’s MODE. Some things to mention:
- Model 1 and Model 2 Saturns have different internal layouts, and their mounting brackets are listed as different SKUs at Laser Bear. If you’re not sure which model you have, check this image and look at the Power/Reset buttons.
- Model 1 Saturns aren’t all the same inside either, and Laser Bear has some options to tailor their bracket to your particular console. Check this Twitter thread if you’re not sure what the difference is between hard and soft shielding.
- While listings are only available for the Saturn right now, these designs are meant to support a broad range of hardware. Dreamcast brackets aren’t too far off, and parts of this bracket will be usable with other Saturn and Dreamcast ODEs (Fenrir, Rhea, GDEMU, etc.).
To accompany the release of this bracket, Greg also uploaded some installation videos for both Model 1 and Model 2 Sega Saturns. If you’re at all comfortable with disassembling consoles, assembling this kit should be pretty straight forward. For those of you who want a more streamlined process though, Laser Bear will sell fully assembled kits for a little extra.
