RetroTINK Mini, 2x, 5x

The RetroTINK line of products are lag-free scalers created by developer Mike Chi.  While there’s been a few different models released over the years, the current lineup should cover most price points.  All are completely plug and play devices with no tweaking required…although they offer some pretty awesome options for people who want to squeeze every bit of performance out of their classic consoles!  Here’s the full lineup:

RetroTINK 4K – This is the world’s first 4K gaming scaler and by far the best ever made.  It’s due to release before the end of 2023 and while the price point will be out of most people’s budgets, it’s the perfect high-end solution:  https://retrorgb.link/retrotink4k

RetroTINK 5x Pro – The RT5x offers composite, S-Video, component and SCART inputs and scales everything from 240p – 720p, up to 1440p.  It offers motion adaptive deinterlacing for 480i sources and some of the best CRT emulation masks ever made (except the RT4K above!).

RetroTINK 2x Pro – The RT2x Pro is a zero-lag linedoubler that accepts Composite, S-Video and Component video in either 240p or 480i resolutions.  The signals can be passed through, or doubled to 480p;  480i is “bob deinterlaced” to 480p.  It’s currently the best entry-level scaler for people who just want to use the cables their consoles came with to connect to an HDTV.

RetroTINK 5x Premium Remote – While the remote that comes with the RT5x is absolutely fine, if you’re a tinkerer constantly changing settings, this upgrade might come in hand:

RetroTINK Transcoders – These devices reliably convert RGB SCART to YPbPr component video…or the opposite:  YPbPr to RGB SCART.

RetroTINK 2x SCART – Discontinued.  The 2x SCART was essentially a 2x Pro, but with a SCART input instead of the others.

RetroTINK 2x Mini – Discontinued.  This was a great entry-level scaler;  It only supported composite and S-Video inputs, but was inexpensive and simple to use.  Sadly, the part shortage killed this product, but the RT2x Pro above is the next-best choice, with component video inputs as well.

RetroTINK 2x Multiformat – Discontinued.  This was a unique device with some cool use cases, but overall the RetroTINK 5x is a better choice.

Original RetroTINK2x – Discontinued, replaced by the Mini.  If you find any listed as new, it’s most likely a cheap, low-quality clone.  Don’t waste your money on that!

 

Firmware Updates:
