Krikzz has just released the updated version of his Everdrive ROM cart for the Sega Game Gear: https://everdrive.me/cartridges/everdrive-gg-x7.html
The x7 offers quite a few upgrades over the original, including save states, in-game menu and instant loading! Here’s the full list of features:
- Max ROM size: 4MByte
- Max SAVE RAM size: 32KByte
- Save States function and In-Game menu function
- Instant loading
- GG and SMS games are supported
- Low power consumption
- High quality 4-layers PCB
- Soft reset to menu
- Micro SD cards are supported
- OS supports up to 1000 files per folder
While the Game Gear + SMS library is under 1.5GB total, the cheapest Micro SD cards available these days are much larger than that. I suggest either getting the cheapest, which is a $6, 16GB card that’s a bit slow to transfer files from your PC to the card. If transfer time from your PC is important to you, try the 32GB faster one for just over $10. Loading from the card on your Game Gear should be the same for both though, as individual Game Gear games are really small:
SanDisk 16GB Ultra microSDHC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 98MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-016G-GN6MA
$5.99SanDisk 32GB Extreme microSDHC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - Up to 100MB/s, C10, U3, V30, 4K, A1, Micro SD - SDSQXAF-032G-GN6MA
