Video Player Using Zaparoo
spark2k06 has created a way to launch movies using Zaparoo (previously called TapTo). This means that you can launch movies on your MiSTerFPGA using NFC cards. The ARM SOC on the DE10 Nano isn’t powerful enough to play high resolution content so you will be limited to low resolutions like 320×240. However, that low res content looks great on a CRT.
Check the MiSTerFPGA forum post to get the details on setting it up.
NetBSD on AO486 core
User hsnewman on the MiSTerFPGA forums has been able to get the Unix-like operating system NetBSD working on the AO486 core. NetBSD is a free Unix-like Open Source operating system that is available for a wide range of platforms.
A ready made virtual hard disk is available for download from archive.org to get you up and running right away.
USB-C to 5v barrel adapter
Retro Frog released their USB-C to 5v barrel adapter. This will let you power either the DE10 Nano or QMTech FPGA boards over USB-C.
Plex Content on MiSTer
Christoph Helms on Twitter, developed a Plex client to stream video content from your Plex Media Server to your MiSTer FPGA. Again, you will be limited to low res content but, Plex can transcode your media to a format that MiSTerFPGA can handle.
Taki Udon Interview
Taki Udon did and interview with Aidin Walls that goes into his experience with product development, ethics in open source hardware, production issues, some personal life questions and more.
Some of the interview goes into the MiSTer Pi, but it is not exclusively about the MiSTer Pi.
Konami Bubble System Core
Another update to the beta Konami Bubble System core was released. On the post Raki mentions, that this core encodes and decodes the original data. It’s an ineffecient method, but that’s the way the original system worked.
The core is only available to Patreon subscribers during the beta phase and also Bubble System Gradius is not supported, however the GX400 version of Gradius is playable on the MiSTerFPGA.
