With the release of Red Viper, a fully stereoscopic Virtual Boy emulator for the Nintendo 3DS, the community has once again proven that Fans Do What Nintendont. The creation of GitHub user skyfloogle, Red Viper finally brings the Virtual Boy’s tiny library to the system where it always belonged, perfectly preserved in all its red and black glory. With all officially licensed games running at full-speed with perfect stereoscopic 3D, clean integer scaling and customizable color filters, we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief now that the true Virtual Boy experience has escaped the trappings of its headache inducing original hardware.
You’ll need a soft-modded 3DS of course, any model will do, but after installing the necessary .cia file you’ll be ready for a big night in with Virtual Boy Wario Land, Jack Bros, and whatever other games from the remaining 20 might strike your fancy.
