Vintage Computer Festival West 3-4 August 2019

The Vintage Computer Federation will be holding their Vintage Computer Festival West event on the 3rd and 4th of August, 2019.  This will be located at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.  Some notables about this event is that ten or more Apple 1 computers will be on hand.  As well as a discussion panel with the owners of these Apple 1’s and the early Apple employees who were apart of the computers development.

The museum will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing by showcasing a restored Apollo Guidance Computer with Apollo Expert Frank O’Brien.  Who will also be attending to give further insight on the restoration project.  Bill Herd the chief designer on the Commodore 128 will be doing a lecture on how to understand and fix the effects of aging and heat on old components.  In addition to this, Bill will talk about how these components are selected in the first place when designing these products.

There will be demos and exhibits showcasing vintage computers as well as speakers doing lectures and panels for visitors to check out.  Tickets are $20 for a one day pass and $30 for both days.  Definitely check this event out if you have the opportunity to go and are in the Bay Area.
