Eduardo Cruz on the Arcade Hacker blog has made a call to action for owners of the BVM 14F1 and 20F1 monitors. His call in particular is about three eprom chips that could be at risk of a slow software death, if their data is not cataloged and documented. The eprom chips have a guaranteed data retention of 10 years but he suspects that they can last much longer if taken care of and are in good condition. Mr. Cruz is asking that owners of these BVM’s read/dump the data of these eproms as well as get production model, year, and revision numbers where possible. So this data can be collected and preserved. The project has been formed on GitHub and links will be down below.
