Dark Aries has just discovered the combination of a Magewell XI400DE-HDMI capture card and a RetroTINK2X is currently the fastest way to switch between 240p and 480i resolutions. At over $900 for the Magewell card, this solution is clearly geared towards professional Twitch streamers, however data like this is extremely important to archive; These capture cards will eventually fall in price, but people trying to stream games that switch resolutions will always have this issue.

For beginners, an easier way to accomplish this is to play on a monitor, but use one of those garbage “SCART to HDMI” boxes that have 5 – 9 frames of lag to send a signal to your capture card. Since those incorrectly handle 240p as 480i, there’s never any switching between resolutions. While that’s not the highest quality way to stream your games, it works, it’s inexpensive and since you’re not using it for gameplay the awful lag doesn’t matter.

I have a working RetroTink2x now. I of course went straight into testing things for myself. It seems if you have res changing games the RT2x and a Magewell Capture device are the ultimate combo. Can confirm. @retrotink2
