Tito from Macho Nacho Productions just posted a video showcasing some awesome products for the front-loading Nintendo Entertainment System. This full restoration requires almost nothing from the original NES: Just the CPU, PPU and some buttons. While it’s certainly more expensive then using hardware emulation like MiSTer, this is technically a 100% all original build, with only the optional Lumacode counting as “hybrid emulation”. I think any original NES enthusiast might be really excited for this one! More info after the links:

I wanted to add a few thoughts to Tito’s video. First, while I hope someday Markus will automate some of the OSSC’s Lumacode settings, it’s important to note that after you dial it all in, you can simply save it as a profile and never have to do it again. Having a 1-button select (other than phase, which will be different on every console) would certainly be a lot easier though.
Next, the POW Block can be installed on any front-loader, even if no other mod is done to the console. You’ll lose RF functionality, but if you have an aging or non-working power/RF box, that’s an excellent choice for a replacement.
…and same with the motherboard! If yours is damaged, you can simply drop this one in it’s place and only transfer over the CPU and PPU. You can even make the board all yourself, using Redherring32’s open source design, however Zaxour’s will come fully assembled.
Lastly, there’s more to be demo’d with C0pperdragon’s Lumacode functionality. Keep an eye open in the future for a follow-up video from Tito (or me!) that shows you lots more about it!
