Website StoneAgeGamer (SAG) is now providing their different options for ordering custom ROM carts of the new SD2SNES Pro. This will open up later today on 5th April 2019 at 12:00 (Noon) EST (Eastern Standard Time). There are many options to choose from ranging with two base models with several tiers of color and edition choices.
The All Region model will be based on the Super Famicom (SFC) and European series of cartridges. There is an important note from StoneAgeGamer. The first run of All Region carts (First 150 units) will not be compatible or fit with a North American Super Nintendo and only be capable of working on standard Super Famicom or European based Super Nintendos (SNES). No mention or FAQ has been made as of the writing of this article, as to whether an NA based Super Nintendo that has been altered by removing plastic grooves from the cartridge bay will be able to accept the first run All Region carts like it would accept SFC NTSC/J carts upon console alteration.
All Region carts made after the first 150 will be slightly altered to accommodate North American Super Nintendos. The time tables for the All Region carts estimate at 2 to 3 weeks for the first 150 unit run, with 6 to 8 weeks for the slightly altered batch of carts. Which will be produced as the standard unit type going forward.
The North American cart will as the name implies, fit into North American based Super Nintendo as normal. Delivery is expect for NA carts to be around 6 to 8 weeks. Further options include color but also a choice in lines, which are the Basic and Deluxe Edition. Difference between the two come with different price points and warranty options. Of the Deluxe model, purchasers will be able to choose between the 90’s Classic and Retro Future looks labels and cart case colors.
StoneAgeGamer is continuing to support its SD2SNES trade in program where owners of the original SD2SNES are able to trade in there older version for the Pro model. SAG, as well as others in the retro gaming community including here on RetroRGB continue to state that the original SD2SNES is still capable and will continue to be supported and enhanced by Ikari and Krikzz. Research and purchase the model with the options that fit your gaming needs.
