Voultar has just launched installation services for his Super Nintendo 2-Chip “edge enhancer” bypass. It’s currently an installation-only service, as Voultar wants to make sure there’s no quirks or issues with certain motherboard revisions before releasing DIY kits. As these boards have been in development for years and already tested on all board rev’s, he expects DIY kits to go on sale fairly quickly and almost surely before the end of the year. This service isn’t cheap, but since motherboard condition can seriously impact the performance of these Edge Enhancers, all kit installations come with a full recap and board inspection included in the price. Also, the biggest difference between these kits and the prototypes I tested last year: No functionality is lost. Not only that, but both S-Video and Composite Video performance is improved as well. One of the main reasons I started RetroRGB.com (which at the time was simply a Google Doc) was to get the best performance possible out of my Super Nintendo. After spending over a decade testing every single mod available, I can say with confidence this is the best I’ve seen a SNES look. Ignore the shameful, low-quality *clones, this is the one to get.
Sure, 1CHIP’s are excellent and by no means am I suggesting those are “inferior”…but there are far more 2-Chip’s out there and the end result is equal to or slightly better via the prototypes I’ve tested.

*My “clone” comment is not referring to the countless experimental 2-chip bypasses tested over the years. I have nothing but respect and appreciation for the developers who tried many different methods and took the time to troubleshoot why most other bypass methods either don’t work, or only work in certain scenarios. Much love to them…but never to bottom-feeding cloners.
