Pre-orders are now open for the complete 1989 Legend of Zelda animated series, on DVD. This isn’t the first time the series was released on DVD, however not all previous releases contained all episodes and segments. The box lists that all 13 episodes are included, but I’m not sure if everything from the original is there. The price is about $14 and it will ship on October 22nd:

The Zelda Animated Series was actually a 15 minute “short”, that was part of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, that aired for just a few months in 1989. While it generally wasn’t very good, many kids of the era (including myself!) do have fond memories of it; I still remember Cyndi Lauper appearing on it and wondering why.
Sadly, trying to track down the original episodes without any missing content is much more challenging than you’d think. You can stream episodes of the Mario show, however the Zelda episodes are separate. Also, some physical releases have missing songs or intros, missing live sequences, or other content. For nostalgia purposes, I think it would be fun to own a few episodes (of either Mario or Zelda) on VHS, but not all episodes are available.
Anyway, this seems like a fun and cheap way to actually own the episodes, rather than rely on a streaming service with ads to keep them up. If possible, I’d recommend playing them on a CRT, or through a TINK5x / 4K for the original effect…
