IGS PolyGame Master – Hardware and Games Overview

Modern Vintage Gamer just posted an awesome overview of the IGS PolyGame Master (PGM).  He covers the hardware similarities to the Neo Geo, as well as some of the most unique games on the platform.  If you’d like more info on the PGM, also consider checking out Scarlet Sprites‘ video at the bottom of the post, as well as a blog entry from Nicole that digs a bit deeper into the technical side and shows the PGM2:

As MVG stated, there’s great software emulation options like MAME, however the recent IGS Classic Arcade Collection for the Switch should (at least at the time of writing this post) be avoided.  In fact, that collection is (in my opinion, not necessarily MVG’s) the perfect example of a cheap cash grab that’s not at all a good representation of the games.  While I haven’t done a deep dive, the audio emulation is terrible and the lack of aspect ratio controls shows whoever ported this game didn’t have a clue about how these games were originally displayed.  For more info as to why this is such a stupid move, please check out the awesome Displaced Gamers video here:
